This small stool was born after surplus green oak off-cuts clogged up the studio.  The pieces, too small for any other jobs and covered in beautifully textured bark, were too good to throw away.  The practice of working the oak whilst still wet (green) is more commonly used in traditional timber framed buildings.  The coloured lacquer acts to protect and delineate the beautiful but delicate bark which remains on each leg.  As the oak dries the wood changes shape dramatically, giving each stool a uniquely contoured surface.
